St. Peter’s Weekly News

August 5, 2015

Thanksgiving in July: Thank you to all who participated in the Thanksgiving in July food drive! You donated 12 bags of groceries and 8 bags of clothing for the Loaves and Fishes Food Cupboard in Jenkintown.  As always, any food items (canned goods or non-perishables) that you leave in the Narthex on any Sunday will be carried up at the Offertory and donated to a food cupboard. Thank you for your generous gifts.

Parish Directory: I have attached the (almost complete!) Parish Directory. Take a look at your information. Please e-mail me with any corrections. I will also leave a few hard copies on the table outside the chapel. Again, e-mail me with any corrections. Thank you, Patty McDonough.

Summer Bible Study: When you’ve figured out what a Bible story or passage means, you’re not done yet. What are you going to do about it? This week, we’ll study passages in Matthew and James that push us to act, to be transformed by the message of the Bible. Bring your lemonade/tea, cookies, etc. also your observations and questions, and join us in the library after the Lemonade Hour. The study guide we’re using is Knowing Scripture, by Carolyn Nystrom, but join us whether you have a study guide or not.

Day by Day Booklets: Our Day by Day booklets for Aug., Sept., and Oct. 2015 are now available in the tract racks or the office. Many thanks to those who give financial support to Forward Movement so that we who use the booklets daily may enjoy them without charge. A large print edition is also available. A copy of the booklet will be given to each of our homebound members.

The Blessing of Backpacks: will take place on Sunday, August 23. Please leave your donations of backpacks and school supplies in the large box in the Parish Hall. This year the backpacks and supplies will go to Delta Family Services and Foster Care on Mt. Carmel Avenue (deltafamilyservices.org). Besides backpacks for boys and girls, the children will need 1-inch binders, filler paper, spiral notebooks, composition books, pencils and pens, crayons and colored pencils, index cards, plastic rulers, small dictionaries, glue sticks. No scissors please!

Legos Needed: We are still in need of Legos for our new curriculum that begins in September. We do not need any sets, just the Lego bricks, Lego people and Lego boards. If you do not have Legos, please consider making a monetary donation to help offset the cost. These Legos are just a part of the fun things that will be incorporated into our new curriculum. Thank you, Shannon Godwin.

Property Update: We have painted two (2) new swatches in the parish hall as possible accent colors. There are sheets below each color for your feedback. There is also a sheet to retain the original color. Take a look at each color and cast your vote!
