Final Community Meal: Thank you all for your support of the monthly community meal; as you know, we are responsible for providing the food this Sunday, February 28. Everyone is welcome to come to St Paul’s Elkins Park and enjoy the meal, with the food served from 5:00 until 6:00 and. If you are bringing food, please plan on arriving at 4:30 so we can be sure everything is ready. Clean up ( Thank you, St Philip’s) will begin promptly at 6:00 and we should all be home in time to change into our glamorous clothes for the Oscars Parties we will undoubtedly be attending. Thank you again and I hope to see you (and your delicious contributions) at St Paul’s. Deacon Pat.
Acolyte Commissioning: Our acolytes will be presented to the congregation for commissioning and recognition at the 10 a.m. service next Sunday, March 6th. This annual event is a celebration of their dedicated and diligent service to God and to St. Peter’s. All acolytes are invited to vest and process. If your child is in second grade or up, or if you are interested in this ministry, all are welcome. Please contact Bob Hartung – firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in becoming an acolyte.
Evening Prayer: Evening Prayer returns in Lent. It will take place every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 5:15 p.m. in the chapel. Come join Emily and your fellow parishioners for this 20 minute service of prayer, scripture reading, and quiet contemplation. Make Evening Prayer a part of your Lenten discipline this year.
Help Fill Welcome Baskets: Once homeless families are working with Inter-Faith Housing Alliance of Ambler. After a period of emergency housing, these families participate in a two-year transitional housing program at Hope Gardens. The families pay for rent and utilities, participate in education programs, and continue case management. Moving into an apartment at Hope Gardens is a big step. Setting up a new apartment is costly for a family with limited means. This is where we come in. We can help Inter-Faith Housing Alliance provide a Welcome Basket to each new family moving into an apartment. Here’s a list of items that Inter-Faith suggests: Laundry detergent, Dish soap, Windex, 409 cleaner, Toilet paper, Paper towels, Plunger, Toilet bowl brush, Mop, Broom, Dust pan, Bucket, Bath towels, Kitchen towels, Trash bags, Iron. If you would like to help provide Inter-Faith Welcome Baskets, look for our Giving Tree poster and take one or more leaves that show the item(s) you’d like to provide. Then leave the items in the Laundry Baskets in the Narthex before any Sunday service from February 14th through March 13th. Questions? Please contact Shirley Smith or Dori Meginley.
Are you creative? We are looking for someone to help design new sanctuary banners to hang behind the altar in memory of Mary Lou Richards, Daniel’s mother. If you are artistic and would like to help us over the next couple of months with this special project, please contact Roxanne Walter. Thanks!
Children’s Choir on Easter: I would like to have a children’s choir on Easter Sunday to sing during the flowering of the cross. This choir would rehearse on three consecutive Sundays after church, February 28, March 6 & March 13. Parents, please encourage your children to participate in this special children’s music ministry. Since the children did such a great job singing during the Christmas pageant, it would be so lovely to hear them again on Easter Sunday! Thanks, Tim B.
Video Camera Operators Needed: We are in need of folks to operate the video camera on the five Sundays when I preach between now and May. If you’d like to be trained to do this, please let me know! Thanks! Emily
