St. Peter’s Weekly News
May 25, 2016
Welcome St. Philip’s! St. Peter’s extends a special welcome to you and pray that you will find a warm home here. The Email News is a weekly email that is sent with announcements of upcoming parish events. These announcements will also be in the Sunday leaflet. Our homebound members receive a copy of the Sunday leaflet so they may stay up to date on church wide events. Information is also communicated through a bi-monthly newsletter that is sent via email and mailed to our members who are homebound or who do not have access to a computer. Feel free to contact me with any questions, Patty McDonough, Parish Administrator, 215.887.1765.
Annual Musician’s Party: TOMORROW, May 26 at 6:00 p.m. at the Rectory. All musicians who helped out this year with any worship service at both parishes are invited to attend. Spouses and partners are welcome as well.
Lectionary Bible Study: In the Lectionary study each week, we ask “How do these readings fit together? How do they develop the big story of God’s plan to rescue and renew humankind and the earth?” Invite someone from St. Philip-in the-Fields to come with you, bring your questions and stories (and snacks), and join us as we read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest this week’s readings in the library after the 10 am service.
Office Closed: The office will be closed Monday, May 30th in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.
Thrift & Gift News: The shop will be closed Memorial Day, Monday May 30th. Our summer hours begin Wednesday June 1st: Open 10-3 Wednesdays and 10-2 Saturdays. New items will be added from our storage of donated and consigned items. So please stop in and help us help others. We could use some help in the shop during the summer as well. Call the Shop at 215-576-9323 and leave a message if you’re interested.
Parish Picnic and Outdoor Service: Sunday, June 5 is our annual outdoor service and picnic. We’ll meet for worship under the trees at 10 a.m. in Ft. Washington State Park in Flourtown. What you need to know: we provide the hamburgers, hotdogs, veggie burgers, rolls, and beverages. You bring side dishes, salads, snacks and desserts; also your softball glove or favorite outdoor game to share. The park provides picnic tables; you might want to bring your favorite outdoor chairs or blankets to sit on. This is a fun day for the whole family to share. Feel free to invite friends, too. If you cannot join us at the parish picnic and outdoor service at Ft. Washington State Park, there will be a Morning Prayer service held in the church at 10 a.m.
