St. Peter’s Weekly News
June 22, 2016
Welcome St. Philip’s: St. Peter’s extends a special welcome to you and pray that you will find a warm home here. The Email News is a weekly email that is sent with announcements of upcoming parish events. These announcements will also be in the Sunday leaflet. Our homebound members receive a copy of the Sunday leaflet so they may stay up to date on church wide events. Information is also communicated through a bi-monthly newsletter that is sent via email and mailed to our members who are homebound or who do not have access to a computer. Feel free to contact me with any questions, Patty McDonough, Parish Administrator, 215.887.1765.
Remembering Our Friend: St. Philip’s member Michael Smith died on June 8, 2016. We will celebrate Mike’s life during a service at St. Philip in-the-Fields on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Please keep Mike and his family in your prayers. Rest eternal grant to Mike, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him.

Pledge Reminder: This is just a friendly reminder to please top off your monthly and weekly pledges before you go on vacation this summer. Our expenses continue through the summer and we depend on the cash flow from your pledges to pay our bills. If you have any questions regarding your pledge or would like to submit or adjust your pledge to St. Peter’s, please contact me at email@example.com. Happy Summer! – Timothy Voit, Accounting Warden
Women’s Group: invites all women of the church to share a summer brunch on Saturday, July 9th from 9:30 am -11:30 am in the Parish Hall. Thanksgiving in July: Lots of food drives happen in November around Thanksgiving time, but the need for supplemental food is a constant all year long. So during the month of July, we invite you to leave food items in the Narthex or in the Chapel Hallway in gratitude for our many blessings. The Social Concerns Team will take your donations to the Loaves and Fishes Food Cupboard in Jenkintown, which serves about 100 families each week. Needs include: canned goods (tuna, beans, stews, vegetables, non-sugary fruits and fruit juices, and soups); non-perishables (peanut butter, jelly, cereal, rice, pasta, macaroni & cheese); and clean, gently-used summer clothing for men, women, and children. The food cupboard does not take food after its expiration date. Thank you all for your generosity! Questions? Please contact Carol Boyle.
Fellowship Hosts: The Fellowship Team is looking for volunteers to help out with Fellowship & Lemonade Hour. Please email Eileen McDermott at email@example.com if you are interested.
Calendar Items: Attention all committee heads, please email Patty at firstname.lastname@example.org all events/meetings/programs for the September 2016-June 2017 calendar. Please have them to me no later than July 1, 2016. Thank you!
New Parish Directory: In order to update the Parish Directory, please email Patty at email@example.com with changes of address/phone/email information by July 1st.
Jess Miller’s Purse: There is still time to contribute to Jess’ purse. Please send your contributions to Patty in the church office. If you write a check, please make it out to St. Peter’s Church and write on the memo line Jess’ gift. We will be sending her one check at the end of the summer. Many thanks, Emily+
Music Minister Tim Brown: will be presenting two cabarets at New Hope’s Bucks County Cabaret Room this summer. The programs will be on Friday, June 24th, with soprano, Jan Baldwin and Friday, August 12th, with soprano Rhonda Liss. Both ladies are accomplished performers and members of actor’s equity. Jan has been a regular performer at the Bristol Riverside Theater for years. Rhonda was the original Madame Giry in the Toronto production of Phantom of the Opera. She also sang for many years with the Netherlands Opera. In addition, she premiered the role of Mrs. Alexander in the opera Satyagraha by Philip Glass and can be heard on the opera’s recording as well. Doors open at 6:30 for dinner and drinks with the performance beginning at 8:00. Admission to the cabaret is $15 not including food and drink. However, the restaurant’s menu is very reasonably priced in the $10-$20 range. It promises to be a very nice inexpensive evening of good food and entertainment. I would be absolutely delighted if my friends from Saint Peter’s/Saint Philip’s could come out to support me in these musical endeavors.
