A Service of Remembrance and Hope
St. Peter’s Church, Glenside
Sunday, December 18 at 7:00 p.m.
As Christmas approaches, we encounter a constant stream of messages about the happiness of the holidays: joyous celebrations and gift-giving and spending time with family and friends. But for many, this season is not a happy time. Broken relationships, financial uncertainty, health issues, isolation, the loss of a loved one or beloved pet or this year in the particular the anxiety and pain caused by our contentious, national election– all can contribute to feeling “blue” in the midst of a world that is focused on celebration.
In this season of longest nights, it can help if we have a way to acknowledge our struggles, and be assured that we are not alone. We at St. Peter’s in Glenside offer such a way with our annual Blue Christmas Service.
All are invited to join in prayers, readings, candle lighting and singing to remind us that God is present for those who mourn and struggle, and that God’s Incarnate Word comes to shine light into our darkness.
