Peace Walk: The Philadelphia Interfaith Walk for Peace & Reconciliation is set for April 30 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. This walking dialogue among Jews, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs, Taoists & others will take place in West Oak Lane. We will gather at the Masjidullah Mosque, 7401 Limekiln Pike. The walk is brief and there will be a bus accompanying the walkers for those who need to ride instead of walking. Following the walk we will come back to Masjidullah for an interfaith dialogue and a delicious dinner. For more information: InterrfaithPeaceWalk.org or speak to Linda or Frank Toia.
Adult Forum Update: The program year is winding down, but we have a few more sessions to share together! Sunday, April 30th will wrap up the monthly theme of Forgiveness. May wraps up our year, touching on the theme of Balance or Transition. We will NOT meet on May 7, the week of the annual meeting. May 14 is TBD. The Bishop will be with us and we don’t know yet whether he will lead a forum or not, but as soon as I know, you will. Then, I’m very excited to welcome Debbie DeKalb on May 21, our last scheduled meeting. As you know, Debbie is Jewish but manages to gracefully balance her own deep faith with her participation as one of our gifted choir members. Please join us for these remaining sessions and, if you have a chance, email me sometime and let me know a) how you think the theme-based format worked and b) any suggestions you have for next year. Thank you! Deacon Pat firstname.lastname@example.org
Lectionary Bible Study: Often, we sing, “Be known to us, Lord Jesus, in the breaking of the bread.” This week, we’ll hear how that happened for two disciples. How does it happen for you each week? Bring your observations, questions, and snacks as we probe this week’s readings in the library after the 10 am service; “so that by the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.”
Annual Meeting of St. Peter’s Church: will be held on Sunday, May 7th following the one service at 9:30 a.m. We welcome all to the meeting to review the past year and invest in the congregation’s future. A program for our children and nursery care will be offered during the meeting.
Bishop’s Visit: On May 14 Bishop Gutierrez will make his official visit to St. Peter’s, presiding over the Eucharist and serving as preacher. This will also be opportunity to have our Bishop preside over baptisms and confirmations. In its essence, the Rite of Confirmation is an affirmation’s of one’s baptismal vows. It is a public declaration of one’s desire to make the Episcopal Church their spiritual home. Welcoming Bishop Gutierrez among our community again will be a great celebration. It will be made even more special with the experience of baptisms and confirmations. If you are interested in exploring the Rite of Confirmation, please speak with me. Emily+
