At St. Peter’s we have been entrusted with the care of our grounds and buildings, which include our sanctuary, chapel, library, parish hall, offices, classrooms, our tenant and rental spaces, Thrift and Gift Shop, Caretaker’s Cottage and Rectory. We have been so blessed by those who have come before us and who have given us such amazing spaces in which to live out our ministry and mission. We feel strongly that it is now our responsibility to be faithful stewards of all that has been given to us in order to preserve our buildings and grounds for future generations.
The Property Committee works together to maintain the upkeep of our beautiful facilities. They coordinate maintenance and repairs for the buildings and interact with contractors, getting estimates and monitoring the work. Members of the committee sometimes volunteer their own expertise to do jobs, or coordinate projects using volunteers from the congregation to help keep down costs of hiring outside contractors. The Committee engages in planning to identify and evaluate projects to undertake not only yearly, but for years to come.
Committee members take an interest in keeping St. Peter’s in good repair so that it is a welcoming place for all who enter. They understand the building and its systems or are interested in learning. The committee meets monthly.
St. Peter’s Garden Committee tends to the various gardens on the church grounds. The main garden areas are located at the Eastwood entrance, Memorial Courtyard, Easton Road office entry way, War Memorial, Diane’s Corner, front gardens and pots at the Rectory, and the bend in the driveway. The Committee’s gardeners maintain these gardens from spring to fall. They do everything from planning and planting to cleaning up in the fall and spring (and everything in between).
To serve on this Committee, love of gardening is the key. Some gardens need overhauling and others just need maintaining. A willingness to roll up your sleeves and work in the dirt—whether it be weeding, planting, watering, or pruning—is the best gift you can offer. Some knowledge of plants is helpful. You can schedule your gardening time at your convenience. This Committee has occasional meetings as needed.
St. Peter’s has set aside a Memorial Courtyard dedicated to the glory of God as consecrated ground for the interment of cremated remains of deceased parishioners and their immediate families. On the south side of the church, this location provides a quiet resting place close to our prayers. If you wish to reserve space for you or your loved ones, please contact our Administrative Assistant, Nancy Price at 215-887-1765. Click here for the Agreement of Interment.
Using Our Space
St. Peter’s welcomes members of our community to rent spaces in our church for special events and regularly scheduled classes and group meetings. The Parish Hall is a space well suited for receptions, wedding and baby showers, special celebrations such as First Communion and baptism receptions, and Scout Tributes. It seats 10-12 tables and 100-125 chairs, and it provides a full stage, as well. The Library and downstairs classrooms are perfect for smaller groups.
Some of the groups that rent our spaces on a regular basis are: Zumba classes, Storybook Theatre classes for children, Girl Scout Troops, and organizations like A.A., AlAnon, and Nicotine Anonymous.
