Nursery: Today will be the last day that our Nursery will be open for our children during the service. Annie Swafford will return to us in the fall. During the summer months we will have Summer Storytellers for children of all ages during the service.

St. Peter’s 6th Annual Golf Outing: TODAYwe will be holding the 6th Annual St. Peter’s Golf Outing and all golfers are welcomed. It will be held at the Neshaminy Valley Golf Course located at 44 Almshouse Rd. Jamison, PA 18929. If you missed the last outing this is your opportunity to join members and guests for a day of golf and fun. The format will be a 4 person scramble so golfers of all experience levels are encouraged to come out and join us. There will be a pizza party at the course following the round for all players. Summer Storytellers!: During the summer months children of all ages are invited to Summer Storytellers during the sermon time. Anyone who can read is welcome to be the storyteller! You can provide your own story or borrow one from the library. Please sign up on the sheet in the hallway if you are interested.

Panera Sunday: Today is our Panera Bread “Bucks for Builders — Yummies for You” day. Help build a better world by supporting St. Peter’s pledge to the U.N. Millenium Development Goals and take home some Panera bread or pastry as a “thank you”!

News from the Pumpkin Patch: If this annual community outreach and fundraising event is something you enjoy, you are invited to join the committee to plan this year’s festivities. Help us make the 4^th Annual St. Peter’s Pumpkin Patch “the very best pumpkin patch in town”! Please join us on Wednesday, June 12^th at 7:00pm. Contact Roxanne Walter sewcrazy363@verizon.net.

Phillies Game Carpool: We have rented a 15 passenger van for the Phillies game. Some seats are already reserved for our handicapped baseball fans. If you would like to carpool down in the van please let Jess Miller know so that she can make arrangements. In addition people can plan to carpool with one another from the church. Listening Circle: A Small Group Opportunity: Based on the belief that we each have an inner teacher, what we might call our soul, the God within, or inner wisdom, a Listening Circle offers a place of safety and trust where participants are better able to connect with that place of wisdom and truth within. Beginning this fall, a new Listening Circle will meet monthly to experience and practice deep listening. We will learn to ask open honest questions, rather than offering advice. We will take time to share some of our personal stories with each other, and use poems and stories to help guide our conversations as we explore some of the questions that arise about life. St. James Service Opportunity: St. Peter’s will be returning to the St. James School in North Philadelphia on Saturday, June 15, to help with various projects around the campus. All ages are welcome and jobs will be found for everyone. We can carpool together or you can meet us there. We will meet at the church at 9:00am and return by 2:30. If there are any questions please contact Jess Miller at dffjess@gmail.com.

Church Calendar Dates: Instead of a calendar meeting, I am emailing a form to every committee chair to be filled out and returned by June 20, with dates of prospective meetings for the coming year. Our Summer Schedule begins NEXT SUNDAY. One service will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by fellowship time. In our service we will be celebrating the recent graduation of our 7 EfM students.

10^th Anniversary Celebration: We are celebrating the 10th anniversary of Emily’s ordination to the priesthood this Sunday, May 26th and you’re invited. Lectionary Bible Study: Trinity Sunday: What clues about the complexity of God can we find in the readings? How are they sorted out in the Nicene Creed and found again in the hymns we will sing this Sunday? Bring your coffee, cookies, and carrots and come to the library for a lively discussion after the 10am service. This will be our last meeting until September. Come, join us; one more time!

Honoring our Graduates: We will be honoring graduates of all ages at the annual picnic on Sunday, June 2nd. Please send their name and school to Jess Miller dffjess@gmail.com) so that they can be included and congratulated for their achievements.

Summer Storytellers!: Starting June 9, children are invited to listen to stories read by members of the parish during the 9:30 service. Anyone can sign up to be a Storyteller this summer. A sign-up sheet is hanging up on a bulletin board in the Parish Hall.

Phillies tickets: All Phillies tickets must be paid for by the end of May. Please make your check out to St. Peter’s and write “Phillies tickets” in the memo line. If you are unsure if you signed up for tickets or don’t remember how many you requested, please contact Jess Miller.

Summer Flowers Procedure: Beginning on June 9we will only have flowers at the altar if someone has requested them in honor or memory of an individual. Please get your flower requests to me as soon as possible so that I can let the arrangers know which Sundays in the summer they will be needed. Thank you, Nancy

Photo Gallery: If you are attending St. Peter’s on a regular basis and are not on our photo board we would like to add you. Take advantage this Sunday, as Mike Levin will be available for the photos. Parish Picnic: The Annual Picnic will take place on Sunday, June 2. We’ll meet for worship under the trees at 10 a.m. in Ft. Washington State Park in Flourtown. What you need to know: St. Peter’s provides the hamburgers, hotdogs, veggie burgers, rolls, and beverages. You bring side dishes, salads, snacks and desserts; also your softball glove or favorite outdoor game to share. The park provides picnic tables; you might want to bring your favorite outdoor chairs or blankets to sit on. This is a fun day for the whole family to share. Feel free to invite friends, too. If you cannot join us at the parish picnic and outdoor service at Ft. Washington State Park, there will be a Morning Prayer at 10 a.m. in the church.

1st Annual Trivia Night: On Friday, May 17 at 7:00 p.m. we’re proud to present the 1^st Annual Trivia Night at St Peter’s! Come enjoy a night of friendly competition and creative fun. Teams of up to 8 people per table compete for a prize of $150 for the best score in a broad-based trivia game, as well as a prize of $100 for best theme/costume per table. Suggested donation is $20/person or $150/table with all remaining funds going to the St. Peter’s General Fund. BYOB and BYB (Bring Your Brain)!

Pentecost Sunday: Remember to wear REDthis Sunday. It’s Pentecost-the Birthday of the Church!! There will be baptisms as well as our Rite of Welcome for new members. Please join us for this special celebration.

Children’s Worship: There will be NO Children’s Worship this Sunday, please have your children attend the Pentecost Celebration at the 10:00am service. Godly Play and the Nursery will be available.

Lectionary Bible Study: Pentecost: a rushing wind and fire; creator and renewer; Spirit of adoption and of truth. What else can we learn about the Holy Spirit from the readings on his festal day? And, where are Parthia, Media, Elam, Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene? Bring your coffee, cookies, and carrots and come to the Library for a lively discussion after the 10am service.

Mother’s Day and Spring Plant Sale: Delivery will be THIS Saturday, the day before Mother’s Day, from 11am to 2pm. We need a couple of volunteers to help unload the truck, so let Roxanne know if you can help.

Children’s Sabbath: The Children’s Sabbath service will be next Sunday, May 12th. Children of all ages are invited to participate in the service. Please plan to be here at 9am if your child/children will be participating. We will do a quick run-through practice of the service so our children know their roles.

Rite of Welcome: It has been a tradition at St. Peter’s for many years now to offer an opportunity for those new in our parish to state publicly their desire to join our community. If you are new to our community over the past year or so, are interested in participating in the next rite on Pentecost Sunday, May 19, please contact Emily at the church office or through her e-mail. Jazz Vespers for Pentecost: On Sunday, May 19th at 7:00, there will be a Jazz Vespers service for Pentecost. Led by a 5-piece jazz group, the service will feature vocal and instrumental music.

St. James School: With our Lenten and Easter offerings we collected over $2,100.00 for the St. James school this spring. I am so pleased that we are able to give them this gift to continue their mission. In addition to our financial contributions, a few members of St. Peter’s visited the school last Saturday for a volunteer clean-up day where we planted grass seed and other plants in an outdoor space that will be used over the summer for games and activities. St. James holds clean-up days on the second and third Saturday of each month. We will be arranging to go and volunteer with them again. Please consider joining us sometime over the summer!

During the annual meeting this Sunday, children are invited to meet downstairs in the younger elementary classroom (next to the choir room) to sing and play music that will be a part of the Children’s Sabbath Service. All children ages 2 and older are invited to attend. Nursery care will be available during the meeting for children under the age of 2. Children’s Choir: The Minister of Music is organizing a children’s choir to sing during the Children’s Sabbath on May 12th. There will be a rehearsal on Saturday, May 4 at 10:00 and one during the annual meeting.

United Thank Offering In-Gathering: will be held on THIS SUNDAY. The United Thank Offering is an organization founded by women to meet compelling human needs and to expand the mission and ministry of the church through monetary grants. The UTO is a way for each of us to give thanks to God with daily prayers and offerings. UTO boxes and envelopes will be collected at the Sunday Service. Panera Sunday is this Sunday, BUT the donation this time will be to Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. The race takes place every Mother’s day in Philly. The Philadelphia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is dedicated to fulfilling the promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures.

Layette Sunday is coming on May 12, Mother’s Day. We will be collecting handmade and store-bought items to donate to young mothers in need and their babies. So now is the time to start knitting, crocheting, or sewing. If hand-made is not your strong point, Thrift & Gift has a nice selection of new and gently used baby items for newborns through toddlers. These items will be donated to the Nurse Family Partnership of the Lutheran Children & Family Services. A basket will be in the Parish Hall to place your donation. Questions? We have received many ideal items for babies and young children. So make your money go further. Stop in the shop, buy your items and, on your way out, drop them off in the designated box. Children’s Choir: The Minister of Music is organizing a children’s choir to sing during the Children’s Sabbath on May 12th. The choir welcomes children ages 10 and younger. The first rehearsal will be this Sunday, April 21 after church; the second rehearsal will be Saturday, May 4 at 10:00. Rehearsals will last approximately 45 minutes. It is recommended that children attend both rehearsals, although it is fine if they can only attend one rehearsal.

Come Bowling!: St. Peter’s will be taking a group for an afternoon of bowling this Sunday, April 21 from 4-7. Everyone is welcome, dinner will be provided. Please bring $10.00 to cover the cost of shoes and lane rental.

Mother’s Day and Spring Plant Sale - Pre-order your annuals, herbs and veggies and support St. Peter’s Spring Plant Sale. Hanging baskets, (think Mother’s Day) patio pots and a wide variety of annuals, herbs and vegetables are available. Both money and order form are due by April 28 to Roxanne Walter or drop off at the office in an envelope marked “Plant Sale”. Order forms are available in the auditorium and church office. The Annual Meeting of St. Peter’s Church will be held on Sunday, May 5^th following the one service at 9:30 a.m. We welcome all to the meeting to review the past year and invest in the congregation’s future. A program for our children and nursery care will be offered during the meeting. A potluck luncheon will follow in the Parish Hall. Vestry Bios are located on the bulletin board outside the chapel.

May, June, and July Day by Day: Our Day by Day devotional booklets for May/June/July will be available for $1 each, during coffee hour in the Fellowship Hall on the next three Sundays: April 14, 21, and 28. Look for me! I’ll be the one with a large book bag that says Day by Day on it. Lois Sibley.

Habitat Needs Volunteers: Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County needs volunteers in April and May for projects in Norristown and Upper Dublin (North Hills). Service Day at St. James: On Saturday, April 20 St. Peter’s will be going to help with some spring cleaning at St.JamesSchool. Families and children of all ages are welcome! There are tasks for everyone to help with and some of the St. James students will be there as well. There is a sign-up on the bulletin board in the hallway by the Parish Hall. We will plan to carpool. The event takes place from 9am-2:00pm.

(Come, Listen, Pray,) Wash, Eat, Go: Tuesday evenings, April 2–23 & May 7 & 14. This week, April 16, we’ll begin to discuss “Eat,” the Eucharist. Words for worship: Wash; Eat; Go! Simple words a toddler knows and the oldest of us cannot forget. Larry Sibley will be leading a discussion based on his book, COME, LISTEN, PRAY, WASH, EAT, GO, on six Tuesdays, from 7:30 to 9pm, usually in the Library. Copies of the chapters and more details are available at the education bulletin board in the Parish Hall.
