Hola mis amigos!
What a great celebration we had on Sunday! It was a gift to see photos of our beloved Guatemala companions on the screen and to share some of their stories during the service. Thank you, Rev. Barb, Charlese, Tim, the Guatemala Committee, the folk group, our tech team, and the altar guild for your enthusiasm and your effort in creating such a meaningful experience.
As we said on Sunday, you are invited to be involved in our Companion relationship in whatever way feels right to you. If this involves donating to this ministry, that would be great. You are welcome to donate to St. Peter’s Church and mark your gift “Guatemala Fund”. We are sending our annual gift for scholarships and medical emergencies for 2025.
On occasion, we also receive special requests for help from our companions. We have just received one from Rev. Juan Mejia, one of our priests. He is in serious need of a new motorcycle as this is his only means of transportation. The motorcycle Rev. Mejia currently is using is dangerous and he has to travel to his three churches and pastoral visits on challenging roads for many miles. The cost of a motorcycle is $2000. We would welcome any help people can provide. Please send your donation to St. Peter’s Church and mark your gift “Guatemala Fund”.
We also have a personal request: Please pray for Rev. Juan’s wife, Silvia. She was hit by a motorcycle last week and is having surgery on her leg on Dec. 13. I will let folks know how she is doing as I receive information.
Many thanks for your interest in the lives of our beloved Guatemala companions and your generous gifts for them.
Linda Toia,
Guatemala Committee Chairperson
